THE ROTARACT CLUB OF Fr.CRCE

(2016-2017)

"The gloom and doom predictions about service clubs dying is a myth. There is no way that a club like Rotaract is going to go away." As Rotarians, the Rotaract Club of Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues College of Engineering, abides by their motto of “Service above self”. The Club adopts various causes throughout the year and strives to put its whole and soul in raising awareness for the cause. The Club hosts a wide variety of events to give students a platform to showcase their talents and thus, help in giving back to the society using young talent. The academic session 2016-2017 was an eventful year, as it witnessed the rise of the Rotaract Club of Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues College of Engineering. With the motto, "Rising from the ashes" and a phoenix as their Sigil, the Rotaract Club became an instant sensation in the college. The Club affiliated itself with the NGO Karunya Trust and specially promoted one of its endeavours - "Gyaansaathi", an educational program started by the NGO to work towards the education and upliftment of the children of ragpickers living in the Deonar Dumpyard.

THE AMAZING RACE

The Club started with its first event on 26th August 2016, "The Amazing Race", which was a crowd puller during the annual college technical fest "Crescendo". It was a treasure hunt spread throughout Bandra. The aim of this event was to ensure that the students of the first year get more involved in college activities. The top three teams were declared winners of the event and were rewarded with cash prizes and vouchers. The official energy drink partner for the event was Redbull.

FOOTSLOG

The second event organized by the Club, on 1st October 2016, was the "Annual Rotaract TrekFootSlog", with the aim of getting the students together to unveil their adventurous side. The students trudged all the way up the Korigad fort. Amidst the picturesque beauty and the favourable weather, the students enjoyed this Monsoon Trek.

JOY OF GIVING

On 13th of October 2016, the Rotaract Club of Fr. CRCE, organized a Donation Drive, "Joy Of Giving" in the college. The event was held for a week and the team urged the students as well as the teachers to donate everyday items like stationery, groceries and toiletries, which were later given to the children living in the Fr. Agnel Ashram. In order to strengthen the relationship between the Club and the NGO, Karunya Trust, on 28th October 2016, the entire team went to the Deonar Dumpyard, Govandi. The Club organized a fun filled and interactive session with the kids and encouraged them to pursue their dreams. The entire team talked to the Director Rose Joseph who was very helpful in providing an insight to the working of the NGO. The entire session was a learning experience for the children as well as the entire team.LORD OF THE RINK

To promote the spirit of sportsmanship among students, on February 2017 the Rotaract Club of Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues College of Engineering organized "The Lord Of The Rink" - an open rink football tournament, wherein students from various colleges competed against each other to prove their mettle. As the saying goes, "There are two seasons- the football season and the waiting for the football season", the tournament was an opportunity for all the budding footballers to showcase their talents and compete to be the best. The winner and the first runner-up of the tournament were rewarded with cash prizes along with certificates.

Fr.CRCE DREAM RUN'17

In order to encourage fitness and health, the Rotaract Club organized its last and final event, the "Fr.CRCE DREAM RUN'17", on March 12, 2017, a 6 km run, starting from Bandstand and finishing inside the campus of Fr. Agnel, Bandra. The Chief Guest of this event was an alumunus of our college Mr. Shroff, who is a professional Marathon runner. Mr. Ratan Mukhi, the then President of the Rotary of Bombay, Bandra , was kind enough to grace the event as the Guest Of Honour. The event was an initiative to encourage the citizens of Mumbai to run for a cause. People of all age groups participated in the Run. The top ten male and female participants were rewarded individually with gift vouchers and certificates and all the participants were given a certficate of participation. The proceeds of the event were given to the NGO Karunya Trust.
